Where All the Merry-Go-Rounds Go At?

You know what they say, “What goes around comes around.” This is bullshit, at least on the playground in the 2000’s. Back in school, my favorite piece of playground equipment was the merry-go-round. It would always go around and then come around. Same with the tire swing. These things are nonexistent in school yards across the country.

I know first-hand. I was off work last Friday morning, so I grabbed my camera and went to several school yards, and snapped some pictures from across the fence. I didn’t see a damn merry-go-round anywhere. I didn’t see any tire swings. I didn’t even see any teeter-totters. I did see some teachers pointing and later some police came out talking about reports of a child molester nearby or something like that. That’s some pretty scary stuff. What are the odds that child molesters would be staking out every school I went to?

Anyway, what’s the deal with the no merry-go-rounds? I couldn’t find any info out on the internet. My only assumption is that they were deemed too dangerous. Kids did get hurt on those things from time to time. It was worth it though. One time, Jeremiah and Christy and I ate at Mr. Drysdale’s (that’s my 7th grade science teacher) restaurant in Wellington, Colorado. It was called the Pizza Palace. He had the best meatball subs, and that stands to this day. Of course, we ate meatball subs that day. We then went to the playground. I pushed my brother and sister so hard on that merry-go-round, and then did the same on the tire swing. Christy threw up in the rocks. Maybe it was Jeremiah. I don’t know, but the point is, I got some damn good laughs out of that playground equipment.

The new generation isn’t going to get that. And they’re not going to know what a damn good meatball sub is either. Pizza Palace is now out of business, and no other meatball sub even compares. You need as much cheese as meatball in there. If I could get a meatball sub like that, I’d be eating one right now, and I’m vegan. Instead, I’m eating a Totino’s pizza. It doesn’t even compare.
