Your Matt's Guide to Theft Prevention

Over the years I have lost a lot of my own personal property to outright theft. Most recently was just last week when I noticed a missing lighter from my front porch. Further investigation told of a missing stereo system from my van and everything of value outside of one bicycle, backpacking gear, and a TV from my garage. A few preventative measures could have avoided this entire ordeal.

• Lock up your shit. Statistics show that properly securing your belongings can prevent their theft. Let’s look at the facts in my case.. My van was not locked – stuff stolen. My garage was not locked – stuff stolen. My house was locked – stuff not stolen.
